can you have to much flow?

well I may buy a new pump rated at 1000 gph for my 16" long screen but i don't feel like messing around with flow calculations or ball valves,,will I be ok? right now my pump is rated at 500 gph and it's old and tired....

Is this a dedicated pump for the ATS? Also how much vertical lift is on the pump that will lower the output? IMO 1000GPH doesn't sound like too much for a 16" screen. Maybe just a tad on the heavy side but not so much it would cause issues/algae to release from the screen. I am pushing about 800GPH on a 12" screen right now and it seems just about perfect.

    16 X 35 = 560.

So 1000 would probably need to be reduced a bit.

yes the pump is for the scrubber ONLY. it has about 2 feet of rise(head) and one 90 degree fitting. My old mag 5 does not seem to have near enough flow
