440L ATS design with 660nm led

Im starting a new tank up and i have ended the rsm ATS build... The rsm filtration worked very well and now I want to do a ATS for the 440L.

My plan for the build is as following:
    1: location: in the sump
    2: measurements: 22cmx 35cm= 770cm2
3: flow: 22cmx60lph=1320lph. My pump is a new jet 2300lph, so that should be more than efficient?
4: light: 3x23W cfl bulbs on each side, that is more than the faq´s demands, right?
5: the bulbs will be placed with acrylic between the bulbs and screen. that way I can get the bulbs REAL close or move them further away.

23 watt CFL's can only get to about 3" of the screen.

    Scrubber Size Guideline, using feedings:

Each cube of frozen food you feed per day needs 12 square inches of screen, with a light on both sides totaling 12 real watts. Thus a nano that is fed one cube a day would need a screen 3 X 4 inches with a 6 real watt bulb on each side. A larger tank that is fed 10 cubes a day would need a screen 10 X 12 inches with 60 real watts of light on each side. If you feed flake, feeder fish, or anything else, you will need to blend it up super thick, strain out the excess water, pour it into a cube, and see how many cubes it is. And for Nori, 8 square inches = 1 cube.

    22 x 35 = 770 square cm...
if both sides with bulbs, 1.64 square cm / liter
    770/1.64 aproximately = 470 liters...

you just need to make your light stronger!and use reflectors!

    Re: 440L ATS design

    my tank is 440L.
    440x0,26W= 114,4W
there are two sides of the screen: 114,4W/2=57,2W light on each side.

3x cfl bulbs of 23W= 69W on each side... that is a total of 138W or do have something wrong???

I just double checked your #s and it all looks correct. 3 x 23W on each side is the proper wattage, and your screen dimensions and flow calcs are correct.

    thanks turbo!
I have been thinking a long of led "bulbs"
I ran across these (sorry its in danish) http://www.energilys.dk/Kategori/E27-Sp ... -325-Lumen

they are about som price of CFL 23W bulbs and they "live" longer and cost LESS in use... But will they give the correct algae growth light???

they are build for outdoor use and are estimated to deliver the same as 50w bulb of the use of 4,5W... but are W the same as cfl W???
If so I need a lot af these bulbs...
