    Is it enough light?

    My screen is 10Wx12L
    On a 125g tank with 23w CFL on each side.
    Is this enough lighting?

    No. 120sq in requires a target wattage of 120w total split over both sides.

    Could this be the reason why im getting dark algae?

    Yes. Try stronger lights, and eventually if it starts growing yellow, just reduce the hours, not the wattage.

    Im really short on space under the tank to be putting more lamps =(
    Could i just use the 48w cfl?

    Yes but try it for 8 hours.

    Although im getting dark algae, it still reduces nitrate and phosphate correct?

    Yes but light green algae removes more, until it turns yellow.
