    Will tray type scrubber work?

I have a tray type old Aquaricare algae scrubber. Its basically a tray that is about 36" long and 13" wide that has some baffles in it, I put the light on top of it. The water level is about 1" fed from my overflow. I have not had good turf algae growth in it because of two reasons I believe. 1. I have only egg crate in it to support the baffles and 2. I've been running the light on it for 24 hours a day.

What I plan to do is reduce light to 18 hours a day.

    2. Buy some plastice mesh for the algae to grow on.

My question is will this work since the algae is covered with about an inch of water all the time. Will the the little critters eat all the algae Also will this set up be big enough for my 120 gallon tank.

Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

Yes get the canvas, and yes use the timer. Then, do what you can to lift up the screen so that it does not "sit" under any water, i.e., if the pump is off, all the water will drain off. Try lifting up one end.
