    Surface film

    Hello!

The algae scrubber do not take out the surface film in the tank. How do you reefers only using scrubber as filtration deal with the surface film?? Protein ?

    Re: Surface film

I have a lot of surface tension (movement) and I do not get any film at all.

I also have a lot of surface movement. Utilize a spray bar down two sides for water return, with a over flow box for water return. Switched to a beananimal full siphon, to increase the flow even more. The full siphon really helped with surface movement and I have had no surface film.

Correct. That is protein (DOC, food, Vitamins, Amino Acids, Carbohydrates) floating on the top. All you need to do is create turbulence.

I have powerhead blowing slightly up . That moves surface a lot . No sign of film and nice shimmer as well.
