    LED Issue (Electrical)

I purchased 10 Osram 660 LEDs from rapid, as well as an LPC-35-700 driver.

Soldered and mounted everything on heatsink. Wired the driver in an electrical Junction box (waterproof).

Had it blasting away at my scrubber last night. Worked perfectly.

When I came home from work this evening, the LEDs were on, but barely lit.

Did the usual check for shorts, and manually tested each LED. All ok there.

Before I break out the multimeter does anyone have an idea?

    Re: LED Issue (Electrical)

Multi-meter will be the quickest way to figure out if it is anything to do with the LEDs/wiring. Could be the driver but if it were mine I would just retouch all the solder connections with a soldering iron. Usually my first step and fixes most of the problems. Check the wiring and make sure the ends of the wires that are soldered to the LEDs don't touch the heatsink, ie. insulation is protecting the wire to as close as the pad as possible. I usually strip away 1/16" of the insulation to expose the wire to solder to the pad on the LED. The wire heats up after the first use and then cools down, it can lead to issues initially, but like I said, retouching all the solder pads and ensuring the base wire isn't touching the heatsink usually resolves issues.

Used the multimeter and found the bad solder joint pretty fast. A lot of rosin on the pad. Thanks for the help!
