I agree. You can find people that are successful using most any method and I don't have enough experience to say for sure which is the very best for you but I don't think that the " all of the above" approach is a good one at first.
I had a scrubber that was performing perfectly but then I added too many things, at once, that competed for nutrients. The scrubber stopped producing algae at all.
I would decide on a primary tool for nutrient control (whatever that is), get that working and dialed in to peak performance. Then and only then, add in other methods, a little at a time, one by one.
