Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!

Incidentally, I do have a few people locally who have been chomping at the bit for a scrubber, so I'm going ahead and making a few smaller versions (1 cube and 2 cube/day) and am planning to use CFLs or a DIY LED kit. These will be acrylic enclosed box scrubbers.

I didn't get an e-mail notification for some reason but thank you SM for the info.

I assumed that T5HO was out anyways as it doesn't make much financial sense. You can DIY a 3W LED array or buy e-Shine fixtures for the same amount. Due to this I am no longer planning on building T5HO scrubbers unless it is specifically requested. If requested, it would be for DIY T5HO or the Aquatic Life 2-lamp fixture (since the Nova got discontinued, and had problems anyways)

Just a quick update, I will also be building the LED fixtures. This means that I will be manufacturing and selling acrylic Algae Scrubber filters and custom LED fixtures, both separately and in combination.

I made my own display LED lights and thought about covering the lens's and spraying the side that faces the water with clear coat so the solder joints and wires are not directly exposed to the SW. I then thought I could do this with my LED's on my scrubber too.

Speaking of that, I have seen several references to spraying something onto the fixtures to waterproof it. What is this product, and do you just spray it over everything, LEDs and all?

I would cover the LED's lens as I plan to.

I wondered about silicone too but, then figured clear coat might be better as it lasts much longer. I figured the silicone would rub off after a few times removing dust or what ever might get on it. So with that said, maybe clear coat first then silicone afterward as needed. I have not tried the stuff in the link so I cannot say how it works. They do have a catchy sales pitch for it though. This is the link that works: http://reefledlights.com/shop/led-seal/

Do you buy your acrylic locally or have you found reasonable online source? I need to build myself something custom I am thinking...... I love the waterfall behind the tank, the white noise is GREAT while sleeping, it works pretty decently and was cheap as hell to make.... However the major downside is as the algae starts growning out from the screen, the water starts going everywhere, which is especially bad as the only outlet in the wall falls in the danger zone.....

So I definately want to make a custom enclosed scrubber, and I have a cleear plan in mind for how to build it, and mount it above the tank.... But I cant find anywhere locally (Galveston, TX) that seems to sell acrylic at less than outlandish prices.... especially not for anything approaching the 1/4" thickness range.
