Interesting...could use a water wheel like design, have the pump outlet over the top of the wheel to rotate it. would be noisy though. essentially still a onesided screen aswell.

In an open fresh water / waste water pond, sure, these things sound great. In a saltwater tank, NEVER. Can you just imagine the salt creep something like a spinning wheel is going to create? No thanks! You could "box in the wheel" to stop the salt creep, but then the salt will just built up on the inside of the box and then light will have a hard time getting in. Sounds like a huge headache to me on anything dealing with saltwater in the home.
Not to mention that it's patented, so technically you can't even make one for yourself without getting approval or risking a lawsuit.
