need advise per the new sizing guidelines

It's been 2 years that I got into scrubbing but what I followed that time was the old guidelines. Now it seems the new guidelines can get you to a very small screen size and lots of feeding. Can I go the screen size of 5 x 5 (25 square inches) with 23 watts (actual watts) on each side? Below is the picture of my scrubber. This is for a 40 gallon breeder with 20 gallon sump. The water flow is direct from the drain pipe, not sure what water flow I am getting but it is rushing down bigtime.

That would be about 2 total watts per square inch, which is very good. Should be able to handle 2 cubes a day, at 9 hours.

Did you make that one yourself? That came out VERY nice looking. Probably the cleanest looking CFL scrubber I have seen. Very well done!

Thanks SM for the quick response. Now I know I am in good shape.

For ACE 25 question....yes I made that scubber from 1/4 black acrylic fits on top my sump. Thanks for the compliment.

but why go to 14 days? I was under the impression that any more than 7 days the roots would start to die? Did you discover something new?
