Flood lamp or no flood lamp?

I have read a few threads from a few boards, some suggest flood lamp style bulbs others do not. The non flood light bubls are obvisously much cheaper so if there isn't a large difference in performace I'd get those. Wouldn't the metal cone styel screw in bases make the normal CF bulbs almost like a flood light anyway?

What exactly whoudl I be looking for other than 3000k and the highest wattage I can find? I'd really like to pick these up at HD/Lowes/Wal-Mart but many of their bulbs dont' like the K rating.

Not sure they are cheaper. The floods are about $10 each.

It would work, but remember all the light you lose that is not pointed at the screen.

I have a few of these laying around that I figured would help with that problem. If I'm better with a flood I understand, just trying to save a few bucks where I can

Should be fine, you could get away with a standard energy saving bulb in that and get a reasonable amount of reflection from it, a flood light would likely focus the light better however.

Seems to be a pretty good deal!! Since these bulbs don't last long I would have thought more people woudl be doing this instead of buying the $10 flood light style?
