Is inconsistent flow normal on new screens

Just made 2 scrubbers and I'm hoping it's because the screens are new. I roughed the screens up pretty good and the pipe slit is about 94% straight on both scrubbers. It seems I have about 80% coverage on one side and 40% on the other. Making the slit larger just seems to make the water gush more in one area.

Please tell me the flow will even out when the algae starts growing in. Running the scrubber harder just seems to make it splash.

Will even out, if the slot is 3mm all the way across.
