TonyMar's UAS HOG test

This is my 30 gal freshwater tank. Divided, 2 Betta's, 2 Ghost Shrimp, 1 Bristlenose Pleco, 2 ADF's, 3 Mickey Mouse Platties, 2 Rasbora and 2 Zebra, 1 Raphael Catfish.
My screen is 4x5 and I have a 23 watt, 2750 K bulb, single sided but reflectors behind the bulb and the screen. I've gotten some green on the screen, but it was very light and my Am, Ites and Ates are out of sight. Feeding is the equivalent of 1/2 cube per day.
Do I need a 42 watt bulb?
My solar, waterfall scrubber keeps my 140 gal pond crystal clear. Yaay SM.

Cool ... Quick, easy, effective. One thing I see. Are those hooks gonna rust?

Hey ruddybop, thanks for checking it out. The hooks are on the outside, inside it's plastic zip ties. They haven't shown any rust yet but I'll keep an eye on them. Been following your thread, very nice!

Oh.... It looked like the steel hooks with suction cups were on the inside holding the inner plastic food tray and outside holding the outer tray looking at the pics...... My bad...

This is a pic from my 10 gallon tank. Freshwater, not cycled yet, Am 0, Nitrate, 20, Nitrites 5+. Am using Seachem Prime to keep the fish alive. Lightly stocked. 1 Betta, 1 African Dwarf Frog, 1 Otto, and 1 young Cory Cat, 2 Nerite snails. Screen is 4" wide and 3" tall. Feeding: 10 pellets per day, about 1/4 of a cube. UAS, 23 watt CFL, 2750 K. This is 7 days growth.
I'm concerned about the color, brown, and I'm getting algae on the glass of the tank. There is a reflector behind the cfl and the screen.
Light cycle is 18 on 6 off
Stronger light?
This is the minimum size and I know it's big for the amount I feed.
What's my route to getting some green on the screen, please?

Hi Guys,
30 gal FW tank. Ph 7.5, Am 0, Ites 2 to 5, Ates 5. 23 W 2750 K spiral CFL.
Runs 18 on 6 off, size is 3x4 and feeding is 1/4 cube per day. The inside of my tank is very clean, very little algae so I'm sure my HOG is working. The clean glass and rocks are quite nice.
Here's my concern, if the algae is brown it may not be eating the Ites and the Ates. This tank has been going since June 1st and my Nitrites have not budged. The Am is Zero so HOG with my filter (Aquaclear 200 with Foam and Seachem Matrix) and the HOG must be eating the Ammonia.
How often to clean? Right now I'm doing 7 days.
The growth in the image is 8 days.
Does brown algae eat Nitrites and Nitrates?
Is there something I should be doing to encourage Green growth?

After a month one would expect the nitrite to be zero as this is bad for the livestock.
