    Update to alien growth phenomena:

As you can see upper part of screen is growing nice green hair algae. Rest of screen is all covered in " alien" growth. It looks semi transparent at the moment. Possibly its because screen was cleaned not so long ago and it will gain "nice yellow" tint as it grows thicker. As growth progresses , hair algae becomes longer too and covers more and more of "alien". But most of it is attached to upper inch of screen and seems cant compete alien anyway.

At the same time I have got some another alien type algae in display :

Looks like white fur to me.
But as most corals are happy, I try to stand that :

P.S. Screen is under 6 red and 1 blue LED. All at 1w. size is 4x6

    Just re-read this whole thread.

Are your LED 660nm red? Got a picture of the array?

I'm wondering if 1W LEDs are just not enough "punch", or if you have them too far away, etc...

EDIT also is this one-sided or two-sided? I do know that it is a waterfall...

Kotlec - that's a coincidence, we were only contemplating the cause of these types of screens yesterday

It is just burning in the middle. Add some iron, and decrease hours. Or add a diffuser, or back the light up a few inches.

Coincidences happens rarer than you thing.
Wind was blowing in my direction.

Leds are Chinese advertised as 660s. One sided. Roughly 1 inch away from screen.

Guys be nice. Decide if it is burning or under powered . Cant fix both

Cant find pic of array, but its simple big (almost size of screen) heatsink with six leds , RB in the middle.

What is the flow rate across the screen?

I read back earlier - running a 1000 L/h aquabee, right? That's about 250 GPH at zero head, so if you have a head loss that would probably cut the flow down a lot. I would like to see you running 50 GPH/in on that screen. Looks like it is about 5" wide, right? So 50 x 5 = 250 GPH after head loss, or 1000 L/H over the screen...

No no. Now its huge new 2000L/H pump swirling. Tuned it down some as it was making tornado in my 35G display. There is no head loss in my setup as sump is in back chamber of tank , aka bio cube. Flow is huge over screen.

Not exactly , but similar :
