    Mending a torn screen ?

During my last screen cleaning I gave it a bit too much elbow grease and poked a 4 inch horizontal tear in the screen. It still functions perfectly but obviously has weakened the screen considerably. Does anyone have a method of fixing the screen without having to restart. Getting good growth now and don't want to start from scratch. I was thinking about glueing a strip of new screen on the ripped part both sides, all the way across. Anyone done this ?

Also a new screen is easy to start from an old one by just tying sections of the old one onto the new one for a few weeks until the new one establishes a base of growth.
