    I've maintain mbuna for a few year and its not long for the nitrate to build up!

    Not at all thats for sure. I love the Africans but its a lot of work to keep the water quality good.

    I've got trouble with coarse gravel in the past, I'm now using only fine sand where the poop stay on top with strong filtration and flow but still need a lot of water change. I hope I could stop wc with the scrubber.

    I have tried the sand and gravel and never seen any noticeable difference in the needed water changes. I like the gravel because I have piece of mind its clean after I vac it.
