    outside tank

    hi!

it was great to find an algae scrubber community. I had a horizonal algae(still do) that did not work effectively, then got into the fountain/pond lifestyle and looked for better filtration, so it was great to find the scrubber evolving! Here is my try at a FW fountain/pond. Don't think it has enough sun. Trying a mirror, doesn't seem to improve the light so far. will move the fish inside for winter soon and will try simple upflow scrubber. This has been up since early june probably. Anyway, thanks everyone.

It is greener than my grass, that is for sure. And I'm in FL were it has rained every day for the last 25 days straight... stupid lawn needing mowing again...

What do you have in there? Is the covering to keep cats and such away from the fish?

    Hi,

It looks like I started a thread or something. Anyway thanks for comments. I was hoping the scrubber would keep the water clear, but not so much. I have seen others algae growth here that looked like a carpet and expected this. I have blue amur bitterlings which I have been feeding some shrimp flakes and it seems to distinguish between the sexes. Lots of red around the eyes and fins on the females perhaps. Nice. Will add pic after I bring them in. Also got some platties, guppies and white clouds. The mirror is helping now.

Freshwater algae screen growth is nothing like SW. The FW is long stringy and slimy.
