Any tips for getting a striaght line? I'm using a Dremel but can't get it even, starting to annoy me now.

Are you marking the areas to cut with pencil? Put the pipe in a vice so that it doesn't move on you. After that, it just takes a steady hand, patience, and cutting on the line.

I lay the pipe next to a piece of wood, then use the wood as a guide to mark the line with a sharpie.. comes out pretty straight.

I spent longer and it's better but not great. The holes around 3mm but the mesh just fits with a push, should I make it a bit bigger?

It should not be such a small gap that the screen is able to hang without addtional hardware.
