    Modded CPR Backback UAS

Had a old skimmer laying around so I decided to try and mod it for a UAS.
Been running a couple of days and it looks promising so far.

23W flood light about 8" away for 14hours single sided
    Feeding 1 cube a day
1.5" x 8" screen, I think I will need to make the screen wider with the increased feeding(was 1/4 cube)

You need to turn off the light for a certain period every day. This enables the algae to grow properly. You may want to move the spotlight in a bit closer as well.

I am also using a repurposed CPR skimmer - with some LED's for the light.

Huh? From what I read, he is running 14 on / 10 OFF for lighting.. so I am confused why you are telling the OP they need to turn the light off for a certain period each day when it is already off for 10 hours a day.

He probably read it wrong.. but I do agree that 8" away is too far.

I have used 23 Watt CFL's 2 to 3 inches from a screen and never had any burning.

Its always better to have higher watts.. you can cut back on hours if growth is yellow or burning.

I read it wrong. 14 hrs per day should be OK.
