    Algae Invade

    Hi there,

    Looking for some help!
My tank has been invaded by this red algae....I think it is called red hair algae or Asparagopsis algae?
This a pic I found on the net, which looks exactly like what I have.

It spreads very quickly and the scrubber seems to have no effect on it.....
I can't even completely rid it from rocks even brusing it for minutes, it seems to root into the rock pretty good.
Water param tested out usual, can't detect N, and P in between 0 - 0.05, the high number is normally the couple days after I clean my screen.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Same, about 2/3 green, 1/3 brown. Never been able to get 100% green.

    Hmm...no ah.
However, I think I introduce it myself by buying a piece of rock that has some of these on it.
At that time I didn't realize it will be so invasive (and kind of looks good) and also think that my scrubber will easily take care of it.
But it spread so quick and seems like the more I clean it (out of water) and more water changes, the worse it becomes.

The rock you added probably is loaded with phosphate. As the P comes out of those rocks, it is absorbed by the other red nuisance algae before it ever gets to your scrubber or your test kit. If you could measure the P next to those rocks, it would be much higher.

Give it 6 weeks. Don't remove the red stuff... that just puts more nutrients in the water which causes your scrubber to grow darker (weaker).

    Tks SM.
So glad that the scrubber would eventually take care of them.
Hope when they die will not trigger another algae outbreak.

Cleaned my screen yday. Noticed some of those red stuff on the screen.
They're extremely hard to completely remove, wonder if I shall start a new screen?
Haha, the good news is also some gha also take good root on the screen.
