    Thinking of a build

Hey all, I'm new here and I'm thinking of putting together a scrubber for my 180 mixed reef tank. My sump is an old Seaclear acrylic tank. Water flows into the back area and travels through a series of baffles before cascading into the front area of the tank. I'm thinking of trying a gravity-fed scrubber design where I fit the mesh into the overflow area and light it there. I'm hoping this will solve two problems:
    1) Crazy high nitrates that I haven't been able to make a dent in for weeks.
    2) noise from overflowing water.

Here's a pic of the area

Any thoughts on this type of design welcome. Thanks!

    Welcome.

More/better pics would help. And feeding.

Well, I have 11 fish I feed 2/3 times a day both frozen and dry foods. Maybe a few ounces a day. I was feeding a lot more when I had a sick fish.

My nitrates are reading 80-160ppm and I haven't been able to reduce them through water changes. Looking for other solutions.

I'm thinking I might just build a scrubber, since the area I was describing is hard to access, as you can tell.

I would encourage you to build a seperate inline scrubber if it is an option. By building a discrete scrubber you will not need to compromise and you could end up saving yourself a lot of headache. I have seen a lot more people have big ordeals when their scrubber is crammed in as an afterthought then with a clean build.
