Double Sided Screen vs. Having 2 ATS

Right after the screens are cleaned, there is an uptick in N & P until algae regrows on the screen to consume it. It has been suggested that if you have two ATS's running and alternate your cleaning, then there will be no uptick in N & P because there is always algae on one screen...

Alternatively I've read that cleaning only one side of a double sided screen at a time, then waiting a period of time to clean the other side, accomplishes the same thing.

Does anyone run two ATS on the same tank? Or is cleaning one side at a time enough? One more efficient than the other?

I hope to get a shark/ray tank going soon and will have to feed like crazy I'm sure...Would you build one huge screen and clean one side at a time? Or build two smaller ones?

As long as the screen surface areas are the same, does it matter?

Always multiple smaller ones, then clean one each week. Cleaning one side of a screen might work somewhat, but you are breaking the roots from the other side.
