negative coral reaction to cleaning scrubber

I have a BC29 running a scrubber. It has been up for about a month now. GREAT growth!

Problem is the 3 times that i have cleaned it I have massive polyp withdraw and my zoas retract a bit as well. Takes about a day for everyone to return to happy.

Anyone have this experience or suggestions?

I am scraping the 1 sided screen and rinsing in sink water. I shake it out a bit and place back in cube.

Every time i clean my scrubber i get a small spike in nutrients for like 2 days while the algae grows back. The smaller the tank the more significant the spike can be. I would split it in half and clean one half at a time.
