Should I stick to the 7 day cleaning rule for my screen?

I clean my screen every Monday now.
Buuut, since Monday (a good thorough cleaning), Algae has completely covered my screen again. I don't want it to block light out from the base of the algae - because I heard that increases "detachment".

Should I wait till Monday? Because it already looks thick in the screen.
I really don't know if this a normal algae blooming rate.

Experiment to see how long you can go before the roots die.

What's a good way to tell if they're "dead"?

The longer the algae is on there, the better?

Dead will look like wheat and will fall off.

Yes the longer that living algae in on there, the better the filtering.

FW grows faster and not as thick. You don't get the really thick 3D growth with FW so light-blocking is not so much of a factor as length of the strands it. They grow very long and the water flow will pull them off.
