    Overflow Bubbles

I was going to put my Algae Scrubber on top of my tank, to drain into the display. So the micro fauna population will increase. It is very similar to the acrylic box Santa Monica made. 24" long. Will this cause a lot of bubbles? Any suggestions? I want to go skimmerless with no mechanical filtration.

Any water "falling" into other water will create bubbles. You can mitigate it by having the water land on something immediately above the water. Or having the drain be a hose that swoops down level with the surface. Or you can make your drain project into the water deeper than the bubbles would go so they all stay within the 'drain'.

Perhaps landscape your tank up out of the water and have the water landing on this above water surface.

Create a "flooded" return so there is a solid column of water reaching the surface.

Or just have the screen reach down into the display water
