they've been running for just over a year now and there still going strong. I don't really think you can blame any of the wave makers for clogging up if you have sand been blown about in your tank.

Ummm, I don't have to worry about sand with my wave maker.

Old video/bad quality but you can see the wave.

Vortech yes great wave but not cheap.
Jebao wp-40 I heard more cheaper and best seller for low-middle end.

Have got Vortech almost year ago. Disappointed.
Not much of a benefit at a price of noise it makes and $$$ price itself. Would not buy again even at half bucks.

The only positive i found - does not transfer much heat in to tank , if this is an actual problem.
Cheap wavemakers are getting my vote.

The rotating eductor thing looks interesting, but based on the video I think you might need a higher back pressure rated pump. Maybe an Eheim 1260 fed right up close to the eductor.
A standard (non rotating) eductor on a 3/4" feed from a 1260 in sump, pumping up about 3 feet should put a noticeable chop to the water. I think if you get enough flow into that rotating one, you'll have a nice storm of flow. But ace might be right about the lifespan on gear wear, I assume the eductor would be just as prone...
Dazs easy clogging cause maybe too many dirt or maybe shifting from the gear, probably if you can fix it you can use it again,
just try to tied with plastic string at the top of axis it will push down tight to the bottom of gear, it'll running smooth again,

Mine has running almost 2 years.
At first use its depresing cause just running 1 day then clog again and again..
