couple pics of the latest set-up i came up with, will run the return across the top of it too soon as i get to it. its a 20 gallon long fuge with rock piled under neath and bare bottom, also has a 900gph circulation pump blowing up at the screen from the bottom. easy maintenance, pop the top and pick it up.

gonna have to get the light levels up. I've done a low light submerged screen to grow pod food, however just turned pink. Makes a great screen to turn into a proper scrubber though

it averages 1/4 to 1/2 inch under the water, may need to bump up the light, so far its growing green all over tho. thats one thing about the cfls and this lid, i can hang em all over. i dont know about the rest of the world but around here they just dont like these scrubbers, bring one up and they turn there head, still hooked on overskimming, cheato and starving there fish i guess.

if you use a baffle in the sump the water level would remain the same. no need for foam to keep adjusting to evaporation. also it would create more flow over the screen because it would be running over the baffle into the next section.
