the water flows from the bottom left, up the screen then over the left mirrors(sorry didnt manage to cut the top off for better illustration)

so 45watts it is or higher? i was thinking of 15" high for the screen but come to think of it i think it would be better to be wide since my sump water level will be at 15" but with the tent mirrors will it still be too wide.

    regards,
    Jad

You will probably need to back the ufo away for it to cover the whole screen, and that will get light into the rest of the sump.

thank you again for the reply.

yes i have taken that into account, once my sump is complete will shine the light in to see the required distance to cover the whole compartment of the sump. would i also need to place mirrors on the bottom and top of the compartment? i will be cutting a circle in the middle of a mirror just to fit the UFO light in like illustrated there will also be mirrors on the sides so no light escapes. will probably have to place it 3-4 inches away from the compartment since it provides with a 120 angle of light.

so just to confirm with the wattage. the smallest UFO i was able to find is at 50watts, so will i use 50watts or 90watss for this design. very sorry for the repetitive question. just still uncertain of the wattage of light for LED.

the UFO is was able to find are all rated at 1watt per LED.

    The more mirrors, the better.

    50w is good.

Thank you for your response MS.

Will then search for the 50w UFO lights. Will also get more mirrors for this. Would I need to have blue lights for this light source or pure red is sufficient.

    Hello,

Just received my 50w ufo led red:blue 8:1. I just realized how bright it is. After giving it a test, I would require around 2-3 inch distance from the glass to cover the whole area.

The problem seems to be that the blue led 3 to be precise are located in the middle of the lamp. Will this effect the growth of algae? And at roughly 4-5 inches away I can feel heat from the lamp.

    Regards,
    Jad
