Yes the mirrors, if bubbles are rubbing them, will need more cleaning than if bubbles are not rubbing them.

an update on my UAS after 7 days with the new screen
this is the right side of the screen
left side of the screen
bottom mirror
i wiped the mirrors 4 days ago.
it is now day 12 of the screen. i increased the light to 20/4 hours a day, doing that i noticed more specks of green growth on the screen. hopefully soon i wont be getting much algae on the mirrors. i will update again tomorow before i do any cleaning. would like some input on the screen before i clean it.

Jad

It would be important to see a video of the bubbles.
If the airstone isnt blocked from light, will the airstone need to be replaced every so often?
I find using the light blocker gives me a hard time placing n removing the screen from the compartment.

I think the stone might clog. That's why I used sliced-airline on the HOG's, and a bubble divider on the 3d printed HOGs.
hello,
i have made my modifications to cover the airstones.
here is my previous screen, which took 2 weeks to produce some algae. now im using a totally new screen again cos the previous screen was too soft and hard to straighten out.
pics of 2weeks of old screen.
left side right side
top side of the pic is the front of the screen, bottom side of the pic is the back of the screen, left side is bottom of the screen.
i can see green growth on the screen.
with the new screen im giving out roughly 2-3times the amount of bubbles. and im running the light on 20/4. with the airstone cover i can see that the bubbles are being pushed on the screen rather than bursting out to the mirrors. but i do notice a few areas where there is no bubbles rubbing on. guess the only way to find out is when the screen shows growth.

Jad

Just make the screen rough. And get strong light on the whole thing.
Alright, will rerough the screen again. Took me 2hours to rough it up.
About the LED lights, I might DIY my own set next year. Don't have enough budget for new lights yet. Will probably make it shine throughout the top n bottom of the screen, rather than just the mid.

hello,
i have been browsing through ebay and managed to find a rectangular shaped led box set. it is 90watts, it should fit rather snugly for my screen, it has almost the right dimension to shine all the lights on the whole screen.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FREE-SHIPPIN...item2ec900425a
is 90watts sufficient or should i be getting something stronger? i was looking for 100watts but couldnt find any. just 90 and 120+++.

Jad
