    Floating scrubber

Just been watching the video on Youtube with the new floating scrubber and I'm intregued.

Is the air a must, is it purely for water flow, can I replace the air with a water pump?

Also would one of these remove as much nutrients from a 90G as a Waterfall scrubber?

Air is a must. The algae will not really grow without the algal strands passing through the "dry" insides of the bubbles. Also, the air pump does not harm any animals; they go right up into and out of the compartment.

Nutrient removal just depends on how much algae is grown. The 4 X 6 X 2 compartment will fill up with about two handfuls of growth. If a waterfall can also make this much in the same time, then nutrient removal is the same.

    Hmmmmm......

Will have to have a think about making one of these.

I'm just about to replace my current CFL powered Waterfall with an LED powered one, going to be making it out of Acrylic, very similar in Style to the SM100.

I've got all the bits here to build it, the idea being it's going to be quiet and easy to maintain compared to the one I have where the lights hang down and my wife needs to reach the mesh round the lights to remove the mesh.

I've got an unused air pump sat here too.... Hmmmmmm.......

I'm really worried I'd build one and find the bubbling too noisy lol

Well the top does have to be covered to block the noise. If you do right, it's silent. I'll be posting a vid of the sound soon.
