Hundreds of Vintage DIY Waterfall Scrubber Designs

Following are lots of examples of waterfall scrubbers from lots of different people. They were almost all built before the new sizing guideline, so they are almost all bigger than they need to be. They are separated into categories:

Group 1, Part 1: Very good examples. These pics (below) are the way you want to make yours. No changes needed. These will provide the most filtering possible in a DIY design.

    Group 1, Part 2: Continued (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26#p13470)

Group 2: OK examples (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26&p=130#p332). These examples are almost good; only simple changes are needed. They still will filter, but only half as good as the good examples. This group is also the place where all examples go if they are one-sided, not finished, have the wrong screen material, or if you cannet tell where the lights are supposed to go.

Group 3. Examples which need fixing (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26&p=130#p907). These have several bad things about them that will cause them to hardly filter at all. The user may have already fixed the problems since the pics were taken, but the problems are still shown so you can learn what not to do.

Group 4. Nano's (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26&p=130#p1839). All are posted whether they will work good or not.

Group 5: Horizontals (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26&p=9011#p9010). All are included, good, medium, bad. Remember that horizontals need 4 times the area, and 1.5 times the wattage.

Group 6: LED's (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26&p=9011#p9011). They are for experimenting only. Do not attempt LED's if you must have filtering.

Group 7, Part 1: Old Examples (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26&p=11965#p11965). These go back to August 2008, and should not be used in your designing.

    Group 7, Part 2 (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26&p=11968#p11968).

Group 1, Part 1: Very Good Examples, no changes needed...

(If one of these is yours, and you have a newer version you'd like to include, please post it on a thread).

Wavecookies on the scrubber site built the best DIY non-acrylic scrubber I've seen yet. Wide screens, big reflectors, and multiple bulbs are always better, and this has all three:

Spideybry on the scrubber site made this perfect example of a normal size scrubber, using the overflow:

91Litres on the SG site made the one-and-only example of a scrubber with a built-in bubble reducer:
