Thread: My scrubber

    My scrubber

Here's the start of mine. I'm wanting to post it here but short on time so here are pictures and I'll add words later.
20g display, 10g sump, 2x10w cfl, folgers can, baby formula container, mj1200 pump, 7x6 screen

It needs some refinement before I can turn it on and leave it on.

Oh and for what it's worth, the dry looking spots on the screen are not dry. It's colored funny because thats' where I tried to superglue the screens together.

Great flow! Did you rough up the screens?

Yes. Roughed them up with a wire wheel on my drill. Also roughed up my thumb at the same time. :x

The refinement I need to work on is the piece of acrylic I have to go in between the light and the folgers can needs to be cut to the right size and I need to better stabilize the formula container on top of the folgers can. It likes to slide to the front or the back which causes it to overflow easier and the overflow at the moment happens to overflow onto the light. I'm thinking about adding some plumbing to direct the overflow.

Also, I've got a lid for the top container which I'll cut a small hole in for the water to enter once everything is in place and I have acrylic cut to fit the top of my sump but needs a few holes for everything. This all should help minimize evaporation. Right now though, if I don't get the lid on that formula container in a timely manner, it will drive me nuts. It currently sounds like we're running bath water.

I'm starting to have a slight thought of making a horizontal version that would sit properly above my sump and just drain into the sump. We shall see what comes of it all.

 Great news. I refined my setup and it couldn't have turned out better. The biggest problem I have is space. Kind of ironic that space is the issue when I'm creating a system that should take up less space. I just don't want to give up my sump. I'll get new pics up soon but I'm very proud of how it's turned out and the screen is going to be super easy to remove and clean. I'm hoping to get it in place this weekend finally.
