DIY Algae scrubber design

I'm going to build my own algae scruber, but what would be the best design? does it matter as long as it gets light and water enough ?

or just some kind of a wall in my sump that all the water has to go through. Does it have to be like a waterfall ?

Hey sunflyer! I originally designed that algae scrubber. It grew algae but the only flaw it had was no bubbles flowing up over the screen. If you can add bubbles algae will grow. No bubbles and the algae gets oxygen bubbles trapped on itself and it doesn't grow right. It remains slimy. Good luck
