Should i use these led lights

Just wondering what everyone thinks about these lights i seen on ebay. Im new to this and just started a scrubber today. Im using 1/4" cement board in the horizontal position in my sump. Dont know if its going to work yet, and i will probably get alot of laughs about this, but im going to try it anyway. Its seems really porus and rough to hold the algae. Any advice would be appreciated. Heres the link to the lights i would like an apinion on thanks http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 3DWatching

My initial thouhgt would be that isn't going to be enough.
I think you might need multiple units. I would design for 3 or 4 and maybe install one up close and personal. If it grows turf well you could then figure out what spacing is needed for more.

Give it a shot. Let us know.

Another point. I have heard that some cement board has mold preventative in/on it. That could be fatal to your tank if it's true.
You should research that a bit.

Never thought of the mold control, will check it out, i dont have fish in the tank yet just live rock, would that hurt, also if it does have mold control in it could you condition it like you do diy cement rock. I did order those lights, just to try them, if they dont work, i have other projects for them. Going to check out those lights on the other website. Thanks for the replys. Did some checking and it does have mold control in it. are you shure it would be toxic.

No, I have no direct knowledge about toxicity but I would not dream of subjecting a tank to it. It could cause all sorts of inexplicable problems down the road. Any problems that crop up will have you wondering too.

Now is the time to come up with something else since you don't have some huge load on it.

Thanks kcress, I decided to take a peice of acrylic, rough it up, and glued plastic screen to it. I used a hot glue gun, hope that isnt toxic. Im not going to put fish in the tank for a little while yet to make sure i get all the bugs worked out, will the scrubber still work if i dont have any fish load in it.
