    Are we still dosing Iron?

It's been a few...years since I've been actively following the scrubber anomaly. I just picked up a "Surf 2" (Which is growing very nice and green on its second week plugged in; nice work SM!). Anyway, some personal crap came up but I am back to give SM a hard time and generally help peeps with their tanks.

So, are we still supplementing Iron? I know in most all NSW environments Iron is a limiting factor (http://link.springer.com/chapter/10....762-2_8#page-1), and there have even been attempts at CO2 sequestration through Iron seeding the ocean (http://imedea.uib-csic.es/master/cam...%20%202001.pdf), the article disparages the idea but admits its feasibility.

    So, thoughts?

Iron is very volatile in a reef tank, not saying dangerous, but rather, it reacts quickly with anything that it can react with. That's why it's very difficult to maintain a readable level in a reef tank. There is a very good iron supplement mixture that is cheap to make here http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=1807946 you can buy the 2 chemicals or find ferrous gluconate (must be this, not another iron supplement)

It's been a really long time since I dosed iron. IMO it's not necessary, if your scrubber is not growing green, then something else is amiss

If you feed a lot of nori, you should not need to dose iron. But if the scrubbers grows a lot of yellow, then dosing should help.
