Hi Santa
In your Faq post about Other ways to reduce nutrients you mention decreasing your sand layer to 1/4 inch or alternatively increasing it to 4 inches.
Please can you explain the reasoning behind the increase to 4 inches.
Thanks, Dan.

It's just a simple Deep Sand Bed. Search any regular fish forum for DSB threads, and they will go at length into it. Many other things to consider too.
Taking this a little further, is it that the DSb works in tandem with the scrubber as an added bennefit?
Would a srubber help to keep DSB denitrification to a minimum, ive found some beds to be full of black spots with decaying matter present.
Love the idea of keeping Jawfish in the sandbed and for this purpose only, the scrubber takes care of the inorganics, but dont want the issues surrounding less than successfull DSB's.
Dan.
Actually I meant a Shallow Sand Bed.
No real benefit to a scrubber; the rocks do all you need.
