Bucket algae scrubber in red sea reefer 350

Hi,

Today I have build an ATS for my red sea reefer 350. To save sumpspace, I made a Bucket design that is placed above the sump.
The screen is 20x15 cm, flow 1000L per hour and one 23 W light.

I only feed one cube a day.
Current nitrate is 10 (was 50 3 weeks ago).
I did some big water changes to loper nitrate to 10.

The. Source of the nitrate problem was the top off water.
I solved this issue by adding a nitrate filter to my osmose system.
I have room for a second 23W lamp on the other Side of the screen.

Instead of nitrate filter, you might fix the RO system. And add the second lamp. It should grow good.

In fact the nitrate level in our tap water is very high.
So I added a DI filter as last tier in my osmose system
The top up water is now nitrate free and 0 TDS.

I broke my second lamp while building the ATS.
I buy a new one at my next stop at the hardwarestore

For a reef tank, your top off water should always be RO+DI. Can also used distilled from the grocery.

It looks like the algae is starting up.

I added the second light.
The algae are dark (near black), so I hope to get greener algae with the 2nd 23W lamp.

I remover algae for the first time.
It is not clear green (more yellow) and slimy.

Do I need to extend the light periode?

No, leave the light the same. Should be more green next time.
