Switching from Carbon dosing and protein skimmer to hog 3

My current aquarium is running with carbon dosing and protein skimmer .
I bought the hog 3.
How should I switch between them in order not to harm the corals?
I'm assuming that the bacteria with the carbon dosing is dominant and disallow the scrubber to start.
Should I decrease the carbon dosing and provide marginal Nitrate to start the process"?

Start the scrubber first, and see what color it grows. That will tell you what to do next.
