Goondoo's "Santa Monica 100 Acrylic Scrubber" Customized

    Dear SM,
Would like to thank the effort you had put in to promote the system. I had been trying to DIY one, but failed 2 both times.

Just to share with you, recently, I sent your drawings and pictures to a local acrylic maker (Singapore). The acrylic box alone cost about US$150, and about US$100 if in bulk of 10s.
But I probably need to hunt the correct size T5HO light sets before ordering any. On the bad part, its not easy to find those PVC accessories parts in Singapore.

I thank you again and apologize for my bad English.

Yes get the lights first, and size the box to fit them. The Nova Extremes can work on 220 (if that's what you have) if you get a little 110-220 converter from your local electronics store.

The box had arrived over the weekend.
We organized a mass order to get a better price. We hunt through the market for the most reasonably priced lights. We settle down on Aqua zonic lights

We change your design a little bit here and there so as to match what we can find locally. Here are some pictures.

Haven't have time to work on the pipe yet. I guess I need a pretty stable hands to cut a straight line that long.
BTW, how did you hold the netting using only one cable tie on each side?

Draw a straight line on the pip first.

One tie-wrap works because the slot holds it steady.

Being delayed of the progress by work and studies. Just finished setting up the scrubber to run for a week.
Not much algae was seen on the scrubber on Friday, but a sudden boost of brown slimes last night.

    Will be cleaning it today.

PS: Tank is 3 weeks old

If you can lift up the pipe while it's flowing, it would be good to see the flow coming off the bottom.

I am not worried about the flow. I am using a new Rio 17 (4500l/hr) for it
This is a little video of the operation. The color is a bit off on my iPhone though....
