    My DIY idea...

    Hi everyone,

I have a 900+litres tank and after finding the idea really interesting I made an 11 X 11 scrubber, triple screen sheet (mainly because the hole line accross the tube is wide and water sprays - now the flow has be en succesfully controlled) with one light bulb (cfl) on each side 10cm away. Pump used is a 2800 ltrs/hr and power is adjusted to full.

Its up and running for 10 days now, lights are 18 hrs on, 6 hrs off and was cleaned once last saturday. Now it has become a brown-ish colour with some part of it getting the green look already.

As previously read, this being the only filtration is not enough for my tank, therefore i left my skimmer running and i removed the nitrate reactor. I also run a UV and a calcium reactor, which its not connected into the co2, its just there for now reading tanks PH.

Can the 11 x 11 screen be sucessful with the use of the skimmer? Ths can only be proved in the next couple of months

If not shall i make another screen the same or a new bigger one and remove the skimmer?

At the momment i cannot upload any pics, dont know why but i will try again soon.

Nice how your built a "bridge" across the sump.

For your 240 gallons, you'll certainly need more scrubbing power, if you don't want to have other filters. You'll need to put another light on each side of the screen you have now, and then add at least one more screen which also has 4 lights. Then you can clean just one and have the other still filtering.
