Using a SCWD for a verticle surge

Reading through a number of threads on ATS's, A comment I often saw was that surging was good for them. I don't have a lot of room in my 'still in design' nano system, but an idea occured to me to get a surge without actually having a surge bucket.

Hook up a SCWD and use that to push water over the ATS. Have one of the SCWD's outputs feed the ATS, the other output just returns to the tank.

    Any thoughts on this?

Surges are not "good" for scrubbers, if the goal of your scrubber is to filter your tank. They cut the water-contact time in half; they are complex, un-reliable, noisy, and don't let GHA grow. GHA is what you want for the most filtering.

agree with sm , if you are looking for a straight forward build then go vertical , you just need a good flow and strong lighting you carnt go wrong ,iam now using 4 x25w cfl 2700k on each side of the screen and i must admit iam seeing results.
