    Spec for new build

I picked up a new 38g tank this weekend. I had it drilled for overflows and started building my stand. I'm gonna take my time with this project, so don't look for pictures soon, but I'm pretty excited about it.

My current plan is to set this up for salt, but I have to admit I've been waffling...

Here's my thoughts so far on the scrubber:

Basic design style similar to the SantaMonica 100 in form
    Screen: 8.5" x 4.5"
    Light: (2) 18w CFL http://www.1000bulbs.com/18W-3000-Ke...rescent/31122/
    Ballast kit: http://www.nanotuners.com/product_in...products_id=34
    Pump: http://www.marinedepot.com/Aquarium_...AS1317-vi.html

I'm playing with the idea of a typical 3 chamber sump. Overflow into chamber 1 which contains the scrubber. Scrubber drains to chamber 3, bypassing the middle chamber. I'm thinking of running the main return pump at 400gph and the skimmer at 300 gph so I've got 100gph of overflow going through my middle chamber.

    Does this pass sniff test?

All that really matter is 8.5 X 35 = 300 gph for the scrubber, and a light on both sides. 18 X 2 = 36 total watts, means you would have high filtering for 36 gallons, or medium filtering for 72 gallons.
