    Scrubber Box

After installing a "TEST SCRUBBER" in my tank almost a month now i have every day been looking to find a way to make a bigger and more effective one.

And finally i figured the best possible way to update it so it can be powerfull enough for my 240 gal.

I found a plastic box (those that people use for storage) with a lid.
    i'll post a pic later...

    My question is...

Should i use the boxs' lid and drill some holes for air OR keep the top completely open?

Does this play any major role? :?

Air will not affect the scrubbing. It only affect cooling and evap.

With the top on there are chances you'll need to use a fan to cool things down. My 55g and 4 23w cfl overheats my tank so I have a 120mm fan that comes on when the lights do.

So a closed or open box will only affect evaporation and slight change in waters temperature?

I'll give it a try later today and ill post some results soon.

I thought that a closed scrubber box may increase the growth...

No, a closed box will only keep the water from cooling down.

Is it better if the box is painted a dark colour?

you need to reflect the light back onto the screen but you dont wont the light escaping so that algae grows in the sump. so ideally you wont a black box with reflectors behind the lights .
