Would it be beneficial to turn DT lighting off for a few days out of the week to help clear it of algae while running a scrubber? I'm sure it will help, but was wondering if anyone else has used this technique.

No... that would put the nutrients back into the water, which would cause the scrubber to grow darker, which would block more light from the bottom algae layers. Instead you want the nutrients locked up out of the water, so that the scrubber grows more green, which will allow long green hair algae to grow, which filters the most.
