    plastic canvas mesh size

Does it matter whether you use #7 or #10 plastic canvas for the screen? I think the number is the number of mesh squares per inch. I've currently got #10 and it works well, but I want to make a new screen and can only find #7 locally now.

I assume the #5 is ok also? I can only find large sheets in #5.

I have ask myself the same ?
Essentially if you have a well running algae scrubber than it grows quickly enough were (mesh #) it doesn't matter.
What you do want is as rough a surface as possible. So that any new growth has a good place to start and "stick".
    A real time consuming pain.
So my recommendation would be this link.

The Harbor Freight oscillating tool is fairly cheap although that is not what I have used.

    Hope this helps.
