    LED scrubber

has anybody built a led lit scrubber that works well yet? with all the new hi powered led's coming out with colors like neutral white, warm white, red, and green, and the wide range of optics, i would think some combination of leds would work well for growing algae, not to mention the savings in bulb replacement and power.

Depends on how you define "well".

My opinion :"Well, but not perfect" and expect it to be trickier than you think.

I have been running an LED ATS for over a year now.
Works better than the standard CFL bulbs did, I but never compared it with a T5 setup.
    Zero nitrates/phosphates.
I still have nuisance algae, so not out-competing that.
I have a horizontal ATS though, so less efficient there.

    BTW: The short version:
    You want N * (2 red, 1 blue, 1 warm white)
Exact vendor is not important, but the more efficient the better.
Where total wattage is about 1/4 to 1/2 of recommended for CFL.
