I have about 25-50 white calcified dots per square inch in some areas in my sump. It is growing on just about all surfaces. I have never had so many before.
Any idea what it is?

I have millions of them, and now I'm just letting them grow. Some type of crustacian.
Let me know if you ever find out more.
I will run powerheads externally and ignore for now. They are difficult to remove even with vinegar.
I've stopped cleaning my sump, and so it's now also loaded with tiny tube worms. I'm going to add rock rubble (coarse gravel) to the bottom, and just let stuff collect and grow.
I have not seen them be a problem but they do foul the sensor on the Tunze Osmolator. I have the old mdel with the plastic rail. I scratch them off for now. I will ne vinegar cleaning in future.
They attach to chiller coil even so are very tough, but not on the heater.
