Use a single layer... works better.
When I was running double screens I just let the algae grow and make the screens stick together.. they never really came apart when they were new and after a couple weeks they were pretty much glued together just from the algae.
is there any pros/cons to using a single or double screen? im gonna try a single but i found a great way to stick 2 together if i go back to a double layer. i tried using a soldering iron to fuze 2 pieces of scrap together it works great just doin the corners and a few spots in the middle fyi
Double will grow more quicker, but the roots get shaded quicker. So you need very strong light, and more frequent cleaning, which most people won't do.
I found this stuff made by 3m says its fda approved for use with food products so I'm thinking it will go inert when dry but it sticks good to the screen material and makes the surface nice and rough with just a misting any thoughts?
Unless it is specifically aquarium & reef safe, I would be concerned. Try Weld-on #40 maybe. Expensive but definitely reef safe.
