Yeah I read that after I posted that....I remember his tank because of that huge slanted scrubber but it was so long ago that I looked at it. Still, one step forward.

I remembered that as well. I would have figured by now it would have had a vertical set-up. I imagine the skimmers are to keep the water clear and the reactor to deal with the phosphate levels. I would assume its a show tank by the looks of it. With just a scrubber his water might not be as clear as he likes it.

    Kerry,

Do want to say that scrubber is not good at keeping phosphates down and water clear ? I feel like SM will ban you soon.

    Just joking

His horizontal is only glass... no screen. So it is a very weak scrubber because any growth at all will slide into the tank. There is probably no way it can get nutrients down by itself. Plus it's 1-sided. If it were huge, maybe.

I remember your comment on this site about his build and saying that someone needs to tell him about the pitfalls of his design. It is huge BTW, something like 24 x 36 IIRC, and lit by the sun only I think. How he cleans it I have no idea. I'll have to look up the thread.

Post 302 shows progress pics of growth. Now I guess it's just glass, you're right SM. He shuts off flow and scrapes the algae into nets and uses filter socks to get the rest out. No wonder he needs additional filtration to clear the water.
