LED mod over display tank

I have a 4ft bought LED unit (Inwatter) over my display tank. It comes with 55 deg lenses fitted as standard and they can be upgraded to 60 deg.

What I would like to know is, 1) will it be worth changing the lenses and 2). What would be the effect of removing the lenses altogether.

I have read somewhere that, if the lenses are removed from a LED unit the light becomes more intense in brightness as well as giving a wider coverage.

Wider optic = more coverage and less intensity
Tight optic = small coverage and more intensity
No optic = most coverage , but least penetration.

You just choose what suits your needs.
